New Years Resolutions and Manifesting

Hey guys, I hope you are having a lovely week. I thought it would be the best time to start talking about “New Years’ Resolutions,” I use that term lightly because I don’t think I’ve ever met someone that has stayed true to their New Years Resolutions the whole year long. I like to say New Year Improvement Points or New Years Reset instead.

The big issue that a lot of people have with their New Year goals is that they aim for things that are unrealistic and end up falling off the wagon because it becomes too much. I split my goals up into two categories. Physical goals and mental goals. I know it sounds a little contradicting after saying not to make goals that are going to overwhelm you but when I say that I’m going to do something, follow it through.

So I’ve created a theme for this year. This is kind of the basis for everything I want to do this year. These aren’t my “resolutions” but just an emphasis on what’s important to me.

  1. Self Care — So what I’m going to be doing is taking breaks when I need them (putting on face masks and painting my nails when I need to relax.)
  2. 100% — Something that I want to do is go 100% in everything that I do. I notice sometimes that I slack and I know that I can be better than that. (Don’t worry, I will avoid burnout by doing numero uno ^^^)
  3. Making Progress — Looking back on the past year, I was making progress but wasn’t acknowledging that. This year, I’d like to acknowledge that I am in fact, making progress. I can do this by turning around once I’ve finished things.

Physical Resolutions

  1. Spending less time on social media and online — Last year, I feel like this one was pretty unavoidable for how much time we all spent inside. Once the pandemic is over, I’m going to go and appreciate the outdoors and just being out in public in general. I definitely took that for granted and didn’t even know it.
  2. Have a water bottle with me wherever I go — A lot of the year, I realized that I’m not drinking near enough water than I should. Especially living in the desert, it’s incredibly easy to get dehydrated in 115 degree weather lol. Recently, I’ve had a minor case of vertigo because I have not been drinking enough water.
  3. Giving — This year, I want to give a lot more selflessly to people. With the pandemic, I feel like I missed out on a lot of opportunities to give. I was too much in my own world that I wasn’t really thinking about others. I just want to give back and be there for people who need me.

Mental Resolutions

  1. Have No Expectations for Things — I feel like I’m disappointed a lot of the time because I have so many high expectations of how things are going to go. If you want to read a super great book about not having expecations of anyone or anything here’s a link to The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz that I read in my Communciations class last semester! (Probably one of the best books I’ve read about life.)
  2. Enjoy the Small Things and Appreciate Everything — This sort of ties in with having no expectations but just enjoying what’s in front of me. I’m tired of being disappointed but if I just be grateful for what I already have around me, everything will feel okay again. A lot of people want what I have and I have to realize that. (Off topic, but I did a tarot reading recently and that’s exactly what it told me. Others look at me and the Universe is telling me to be resilient and stop dwelling on the negatives.)
  3. Smile More — This is sort of more physical but to me, it’s sort of a mindset. I like to think of it as “let others know that you’re smiling.” It’s kind of hard to smile through a mask but the tone of your voice and your eyes can say just as much as your mouth. I feel like sometimes I have to tell myself to smile (because scientifically it actually makes you happier) which is more of a mindset kind of thing.

I hope everyone has a better and more fulfilling year in 2021. We are all troops for making it through 2020. I’ll be manifesting for you all and sending good vibes your way. Make the best out of what you got.
