Never Giving Up

When life gets hard, I’m even guilty of wanting to just throw everything in the trash and just forget about everything. However, that’s obviously not the right solution for fixing things. Start thinking about why you started.

Start thinking about the first moment you realized you wanted to start. That’s the biggest thing for me. Once you make the decision to start something, don’t get discouraged. Of course, you are going to have times when you feel like quitting.

A couple months ago, I applied to become an ambassador for my college. I submitted my video, I did an interview but I didn’t make it. I’ll be honest with you too, that whole time, I wanted to quit. Somewhere deep inside of me, I didn’t really believe that I could do it. I wanted to quit the whole time because of fear. In the end, I stuck it out but I was completely terrified, I can’t lie about that. Sticking with it, though, I learned what I’m capable of. I proved to myself that I could at least get through it.

Just to let you know even though you’re probably tired of hearing it, “when one door closes, another one opens.” Not every path is for you even when you really want it to be. For a long while, I couldn’t quite find satisfaction in my life and I was (and even sometimes right now) longing for more. Something that has helped me too is appreciating where you are in the process of your life. It’s not always going to be in your favor, but you only live once and should be enjoying every step of the way.

My biggest advice about never giving up is acknowledging the past, thinking about the future, but still living in the current present moment. It can be super easy to get caught up in worrying about the “what-ifs” of the future and the “could haves” of the past. Stop worrying about things that haven’t happened yet and things you can’t change now. Even I still struggle with these things but I’m acknowledging that worrying about things out of your control is only draining your happiness.

Another thing that helps me figure things out and make me want to keep going are talking to others about things or writing everything down. One day, you’ll be happy that you didn’t give up and just powered through.

I’m by your side and I know how hard it is to keep going. This is your sign to not give up.
